त्रेतायुग में जब भगवान श्रीराम रावण का वध कर वापस अयोध्या लौटे थे तब लगों ने उनका स्वागत दीप जलाकर किया था. इसी स्वागत को हर वर्ष लोग कार्तिक अमावस्या को दीपावली का पर्व मनाते हैं. दिवाली के दिन भगवान गणेश और माता लक्ष्मी की सुख-समृद्धि के लिए पूजा की जाती है.

- दीपावली पर नई झाड़ू खरीदें और इससे घर की सफाई करें, इससे गरीबी, नकारात्मक ऊर्जा दूर होती है और भाग्य, धन और समृद्धि आती है।
Purchase a new broom on Diwali and clean the house with it to remove poverty, negative energy and bring Luck , Money and prosperity. - मुख्य द्वार के आसपास जूतें- चप्पल न रखें।
- Do not keep shoes and slippers near the main entrance.
- धनतेरस और दिवाली पर स्फटिक के गणेश-लक्ष्मी की पूजा करेंगे तो बहुत शुभ रहेगा। धन संबंधित समस्या धीरे-धीरे खत्म हो जाती है और कर्ज से भी मुक्ति मिल जाती है।

By doing this your wealth will increase. - दीपावली के दिन लक्ष्मी पूजन में 11 कौड़ियों पर हल्दी व कुमकुम लगाएं और फिर माता के चरणों में अर्पित करके पूजन करें। इसके अगले दिन इन कौड़ियों को लाल कपड़े में रखकर तिजोरी या अलमारी में रख दें। ऐसा करने से घर में बरकत आती है और धन समृद्धि के योग बनना शुरू हो जाते हैं।

- On the night of Diwali, take five betel nuts (whole), black turmeric, five cowries(Wash them with Ganges water, tie them in a red cloth)and d worship them by placing them in a silver bowl or plate at the time of Lakshmi Puja. On the second day of Diwali, keep it at a place where money is kept.
- दिवाली पूजन के समय लक्ष्मी जी को कमल गट्टे की माला पहनानी चाहिए।
At the time of Diwali puja, garland Lakshmi ji with dried lotus bead rosary. - अपराजिता के फूल माता लक्ष्मी को चढ़ाने से उनकी कृपा दृष्टि सदैव बनी रहती है | घर में कभी भी पैसों की तंगी नहीं होती , पैसा व्यर्थ के कामों में खर्च नहीं होता है| अगले दिन सुबह इन फूलों को अपने घर की तिजोरी में एक लाल कपड़े में बांधकर रख दें इस उपाय से आपकी तिजोरी हमेशा पैसों से भरी रहेगी और कभी भी धन की हानि नहीं होगी।

It is believed that after ringing the bell after midnight of Diwali, Lakshmi ji comes to the house. - दिवाली की रात माँ लक्ष्मी की पूजा करने के बाद 11 से 1 बजे के बीच कमलगट्टे या स्फटिक की माला से मां लक्ष्मी के महामंत्र “ह्रीं क्लीं महालक्ष्म्यै नम:” का जाप करें। ऐसा करने से घर में माँ लक्ष्मी का वास होता है।
After worshiping Goddess Lakshmi on the night of Diwali, between 11 to 1 pm, chant the maha-mantra of Maa Lakshmi with a lotus garland
“Hreem Kleem Mahalakshmyai Namah”. By doing this, Goddess Lakshmi resides in the house. - लक्ष्मी पूजन में हल्दी की गांठ जरूर रखें। पूजा के बाद इसे अपने तिजोरी में रख दें। आप चाहे तो पूजा में सुपारी भी रखें। सुपारी पर लाल धागा लपेटकर अक्षत, कुमकुम और पुष्प से पूजन करें। फिर इसे तिजोरी में रख दें। इससे धन की आवक बनी रहेगी।
Keep a lump of turmeric in Lakshmi Puja. After worship, keep it in your safe. If you want, keep betel nut in the worship. Wrap red thread on betel nut and worship with akshat, kumkum and flowers. This will keep inflow of money. - दीपावली के दिन आप शाम के समय मंदिर में जाकर वहां पर एक दीपक जला दें और इसके बाद एक झाड़ू मंदिर में रख आएं। ऐसा करने से कर्ज उतर जाता है और धन की परेशानी जीवन में कभी भी नहीं आती है।

By doing this the debt gets removed and the problem of money never comes in life. - धनतेरसयाधनत्रयोदशीकेदिन, मुख्यद्वारपर (ॐ चिन्ह) को हल्दीऔर चावल के पेस्ट (ताजेपीसकर) के साथ बनाने से घर में धनऔर समृद्धि आती है।
On Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi day, drawing ॐ (Om symbol) at the main entrance with the paste of turmeric and rice (after grinding freshly), would bring wealth and prosperity at home.
